The Story Behind EasyTaxFix

The EasyTaxFix concept was launched by brothers Adam and Jeff Berkson when they discovered they had each been overpaying property taxes on their homes by more than $1,000 per year. Like countless homeowners across the US, Adam and Jeff had no idea how their property taxes were calculated, whether they were overpaying their property taxes, and what process was required to appeal these taxes.

When researching property taxes across the country, Adam and Jeff came to the conclusion that certain counties and municipalities go out of their way to disguise property assessments and to make the appeal process anything but consumer friendly. While almost every County across the US has a property tax appeal process, it’s time-consuming, confusing and presents many roadblocks for the average person with no easy access to specific information about comparable sales required by the County.

Adam and Jeff developed EasyTaxFix’s online platform with a team of lawyers and developers to enable homeowners to instantly determine if they are paying too much in property taxes. Users simply enter their property address and immediately receive a customizable home valuation and completed property tax reassessment application to be printed, signed, and mailed to the County.

A Message from Cofounder, Adam Berkson

My personal experience as a homeowner mirrors that of the millions of people currently overpaying on property taxes. Three years ago I purchased a 3-bedroom home in California. In early 2008 I put the property on the market valued at 10% lower than what I paid for it, but my taxes were still based on an even higher assessment than the original purchase price. The County had been increasing my property assessment by 2% per year as opposed to reducing it to compensate for the market decline!
